Nycosol 13 (Nycosol 13) is a high flash point anti-dewatercrystallization fluid (ADWF).
It is manufactured by NYCO, France, to the new specification DCSEA 745/A (NATO Code S-1745), replacing the obsolete AIR 3652/B, and is fully compliant with DEF-STAN 68-252 Issue 3 / AL-41 standards of the UK Ministry of Defense Quality Assurance Directorate and MIL-DTL-85470B of the US Department of the Air Force.
Description
Antivodokristalizatsionnaya liquid Nycosol 13 (Nikosol 13) is a monomethyl ether of ethylene glycol with antioxidant additive and is used as an additive to hydrocarbon fuels for jet engines – brands PT, Jet A-1, TS-1 and others. The efficiency of Nycosol 13 (Nikosol 13) in GTE fuels is due to its ability to dissolve in fuels at sub-zero temperatures. This liquid not only prevents the formation of ice crystals, but also dissolves already existing crystals without corrosive effect on structural materials.
In terms of physical, chemical and operational properties it is an analogue of domestically produced liquid “I” (ethylcellosolv) and “I-M”, the production of which is regulated by GOST 8313 and OST 54-3-175-73-99 respectively.
Influence on properties of jet fuels
The study of the effect of Nycosol 13 (Nikosol 13) on the physicochemical properties of jet fuels has established that at a working concentration of 0.15%, the studied liquid does not affect the physicochemical properties of both PT (TS-1) and Jet A-1 fuels. The sample RT (TS-1) with the liquid (0,15%) meets the requirements of GOST 10227-86 “Fuels for jet engines”, as well as the sample Jet A-1 with the liquid Nycosol 13 (Nycosol 13) has no deviations of physical and chemical parameters compared to the original level.
Also from the results of tests of the effect of Nycosol 13 (Nicosol 13) on the operational properties of jet fuels it follows that the introduction of liquid Nycosol 13 (Nicosol 13) into PT (TS-1) fuels does not adversely affect the structural materials, nitrile-based rubber and thiokol sealant. In terms of effect on the above materials, fuels with Nycosol 13 (Nicosol 13) liquid are practically at the level of PT (TS-1) and Jet A-1 fuels, respectively.
Conclusion
Anti-vodokristalizatsionnaya liquid Nycosol 13 (Nicosol 13) does not cause changes in the physical and chemical parameters of fuels, while providing the necessary efficiency to prevent crystal formation in fuels, and does not cause adverse effects on metal and rubber products.
